General Motors Co.’s Buick unit is expanding its Avenir sub-brand to the 2019 Regal Sportback.
The midsize Regal will be the fourth Buick model to receive the high-end treatment. Buick introduced the Avenir (French for “future”) last autumn with the Enclave large crossover and has since added Avenir versions of the LaCrosse sedan in the U.S. and the GL8 in China.
The Regal Avenir will be available only on the Sportback variant paired with a 250-hp, turbocharged 4-cylinder engine. All-wheel drive isn’t offered with the package.
Among the exterior and interior upgrades are pivoting LED headlights, a 3D mesh upper grille, quilted leather seats and customized 19-inch wheels. Other goodies include GM’s digital rearview mirror, a host of driver assist systems and a cloud-connected infotainment system that allows for personal profiles.
Pricing will be announced later. Avenir models typically carry a 10% premium over Buick’s previous top-end trim packages.
