Germany's Brose Group is using the Frankfurt auto show to demonstrate what it describes as the industry's first all-electric seating platform.
In addition to traditional position controls for three rows of seats, Brose's prototype system allows users to automatically fold the rear seats flat into the floor. This function is done manually in current SUVs and minivans, the company notes.
All adjustments can be controlled independently or in groups. Users also can apply memory settings and activate the system via a smartphone or hand gestures, Brose says.
The company also is showing a new seat rail concept in Frankfurt. The system hides the rail under the floor, enhancing aesthetics while allowing longer tracks and more rear-seat legroom.
