BMW AG is recalling 30,200 of its 2007-2010 mode3l X5 crossover vehicles to replace a brake vacuum line that could contribute to brake boost failure.
The campaign extends a recall in 2010 that involved 198,400 of the company's 5-, 6- and 7-Series sedans made during the 2002-2008 model years and equipped with a similar power assist brake system.
Lubricant from the brake vacuum pump could seep onto the vacuum hose, travel to the brake booster and eventually contaminate the device. If that happens, BMW says, the booster could eventually stop working, thus increasing the effort required to stop the vehicle.
