BMW AG plans to launch a production version of last year’s iVision Dynamics concept electric sedan (pictured) by 2020.
The new vehicle will be marketed as the i4 as part of BMW’s “i” sub-brand of electric vehicles. BMW CEO Harald Kruger confirmed the production plans earlier this week at the carmaker’s annual financial results conference.
Using BMW’s fifth-generation electric drive technology, the i4 will have an estimated driving range 700 km (435 miles). This will give the i4 one of the longest EV ranges in the industry and easily besting the iVision’s 370-mile estimate.
