BMW AG boosted worldwide sales to a June record of 172,500 vehicles last month from 165,900 units in June 2011.

The company's sales grew 8% to a record 900,500 vehicles in the first six months of 2012, led by demand in China (+31% to 159,000 units) and the U.S. (+11% to 158,600 units). Volume was flat at 437,100 vehicles in Europe.

BMW brand sales climbed 8% to 747,100 in the January-June period. Volume rose 7% to 151,900 units at Mini and was flat at 1,600 units at Rolls-Royce.

The company reiterates that it expects to post record global sales this year, up from 1.7 million units in 2011, despite the decelerating growth rate in recent months.
