BMW Sales Climb 11% to September Record

BMW AG reports its worldwide sales rose 11% to a record 238,000 units in September.

Deliveries of BMW-brand vehicles grew 9% to 197,400 units last month. Mini sales jumped 16% to 40,200 cars. Group sales through the first nine months of 2016 gained 6% to 1.75 million.

BMW Group’s volume in September surpassed analysts’ estimates. But BMW-brand deliveries failed to match the 211,300 cars sold last month by arch-rival Mercedes-Benz, which stretched its sales lead for the year to date to 1.54 million compared with 1.48 million for BMW’s namesake models.
