BMW AG tells reporters it will offer a dozen all-electric models and 13 others with plug-in hybrid powertrains by 2025. Ten of the electrified models will be available by autumn, according to the company.

CEO Harald Krueger says the electrified models will touch all brands and vehicle series. The fleet will include a new electric Mini that BMW plans to unveil next week at the Frankfurt auto show and begin selling in 2019.

BMW also will use the Frankfurt show to debut an all-electric concept of a vehicle that would fit into the company’s “i” group of electrified models between the i3 city car and i8 hybrid sport sedan.

Krueger says BMW will deliver 100,000 electrified cars to customers this year, bringing the company’s total for such models currently in use to 200,000 units. He asserts that sales of electrified vehicles ultimately must be driven by their appeal rather than sales quotas or bans on alternate powertrains.
