BMW AG reports its net profit surged 14% to €2.2 billion ($2.6 billion) in April-June.
Vehicle sales in the second quarter climbed 5% to 633,600 units. Revenue grew 3% to €25.8 billion ($30.6 billion), but automotive operations gained less than 1% to €23 billion.
The company’s pretax profit for the period rose to €3.1 billion ($3.6 billion) from €2.8 billion in the second quarter of 2016.
BMW anticipates slight improvements this year in unit sales and pretax profits, but enough to generate new record highs for both measures.
