BMW Global Sales Rise 6% to April Record

BMW AG sold a record 145,500 vehicles worldwide last month compared with 137,200 units in April 2011.

By brand, April sales rose 7% to 121,500 units for BMW, were flat at 23,800 units for Mini and slid 10% to 240 units for Rolls-Royce.

Group sales last month rose 6% to 27,200 vehicles in Germany but dipped 2% to 68,000 vehicles in Europe overall. Demand jumped 25% to 31,800 units in Asia, including a 31% advance to 27,200 units in China. Sales increased 6% to 26,800 vehicles in the U.S.

BMW Group sales in the first four months of 2012 climbed 10% to 571,000 vehicles, a record for the January-April period.
