More than 2,000 BMW owners in South Korea have sued the company and its distributor over a spate of alarming car fires this year, The Korea Herald reports.

More than 2,000 BMW owners in South Korea have sued the company and its distributor over a spate of alarming car fires this year, The Korea Herald reports.
Most of the 40 reported blazes, which BMW attributes to a flaw in the engine’s exhaust gas recirculation system, involve diesel-powered vehicles. The company has recalled 106,300 affected cars for a safety inspection.
The newspaper notes that the average price of the targeted models has plunged has much as 14% since last week, when the government ordered recalled cars to stay off the road until their can be inspected. But the Herald cites reports that some vehicles that had been inspected have since caught fire.
Law firms handling the owner complaints says consumers are growing increasingly dissatisfied with the response from BMW and Korea’s Transport Ministry.
