BMW AG is celebrating its 100th anniversary with 100 special edition versions of its 7 Series flagship sedan.
In addition to commemorative badging, the vehicles will sport a unique Centennial Blue paint finish and forged 20-inch V-spoke alloy wheels. The interior will feature premium materials and a host of advanced safety and convenience systems.
Three powertrains will be available, including a 4.4-liter V-8 that makes a 450 hp and a retuned 6.6-liter V-12 that kicks out 612 hp. The third option is a plug-in hybrid system that teams a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine with an electric motor that generate a combined 326 hp.
The V-12 will be the only engine available in the U.S., which is limited to just five of the 100 special-edition models. BMW says the V-12 can rocket the car from zero to 60 mph in about 3.6 seconds.
Sales will begin later this year. Pricing hasn’t been announced, but BMW says buyers also will receive a Montblanc Centennial Fountain Pen that matches the car’s interior design.
