Stefan Sielaff has been named the new design director for Volkswagen AG's Bentley unit, effective July 1. He replaces Luc Donkerwolke, who has left VW after a 23-year career with the company.

Sielaff joined VW 25 years ago. He spent the last three years in the VW Group design team, serving as both head of interior design a title he will keep and design director at the company's design center in Potsdam, Germany.

The bulk of his VW tenure is with the company's Audi unit, where he was design director from 2006 to 2011. He is responsible for the look of many of Audi's current models, and he shaped the 2011 Audi e-tron Spyder concept vehicle.

Donckerwolke joined VW in 1992 as an exterior designer for Audi. He also has penned several Skoda, Seat and Lamborghini models, including the Gallardo and Murcielago supercars. Donckerwolke also headed VW Group's advanced design operations for seven years before moving to Bentley in 2012.
