China's BAIC Motor Corp., which is 10% owned by Daimler AG, is in talks about acquiring a share of the German carmaker, according to Taiwan's Want China Times, which cites BAIC Chairman Xu Heji.
China's BAIC Motor Corp., which is 10% owned by Daimler AG, is in talks about acquiring a share of the German carmaker, according to Taiwan's Want China Times, which cites BAIC Chairman Xu Heji. The report says Xu expects to complete a deal by year-end.
Daimler and Beijing-based BAIC are longtime partners in producing Mercedes-Benz cars, crossover vehicles and commercial trucks in China.
Reuters says Daimler's largest shareholders currently are Kuwait's investment authority Investment Dar (6.8%) and the Renault-Nissan alliance (3.1%).
