BAIC Begins Shipping Cars from China to Mexico
BAIC Motor Corp. tells Reuters it has begun selling some of its Chinese-made cars in the Mexican market.
BAIC Motor Corp. tells Reuters it has begun selling some of its Chinese-made cars in the Mexican market.
BAIC is offering a sedan and small crossover vehicles through a partnership with local distributor Grupo Picacho through six dealerships in the country. The company says it plans to add three unspecified additional models by the end of 2015 and aims to achieve annual sales in Mexico of 5,000 units by 2018.
The company also tells Reuters it hopes to eventually build an assembly plant in Mexico to make gasoline- and electric-powered vehicles. BAIC Group companies currently make vehicles in China through ventures with Daimler and Hyundai.
