Honda Motor Co. is close to finalizing the exterior design of a new sports car and could unveil the model as early as November at the Los Angeles auto show, Motoring magazine reports. Sources tell the Australian publication the vehicle's styling is essentially completed.
Other publications speculate the Honda sports car could share a platform with the new Acura NSX. They say the "baby NSX" will be powered by a hybrid system that teams the Civic Type R's turbocharged 2.0-liter engine with several electric motors.
The vehicle is expected to make ample use of lightweight materials such as aluminum and carbon fiber. The diet could limit weight to less than 3,100 lbs, according to media reports.
