Digital paint, also referred to as overspray-free application, is a paint application that enables precise paint placement. Under the terms of the agreement, Dürr will serve as the robotics integrator for Axalta NextJet for light vehicle OEMs.
Hadi Awada, president of global mobility coatings, Axalta, notes that the maskless application of paint for tutone and graphics is possible through the two companies’ collaboration, leveraging the digital paint expertise Axalta and Dürr have each cultivated over recent years.
For example, in 2023, Axalta and Xaar, a manufacturer of drop-on-demand inkjet technologies, announced a digital paint partnership that brought combined capabilities to light vehicle OEMs, an effort that will act as an integral part of Axalta and Dürr’s newest offerings. Demonstrations with Axalta NextJet on Dürr robotics have already begun at Dürr’s test center in Bietigheim, Germany
