Vehicle retailer AutoNation Inc. has signed a multi-year deal to provide nationwide service and repairs for Waymo LLC’s fleet of self-driving Chrysler Pacifica hybrid minivans in the U.S.

The agreement will expand as Waymo adds other models and brands. AutoNation, which sells new and used cars through more than 360 franchised sites, notes that it currently represents 33 brands. Last year the company sold 337,600 new vehicles.

AutoNation’s initial support will be in Phoenix, Ariz., and northern California. Waymo, which is concentrating its vehicle testing in those two areas, also is conducting on-road evaluations of its autonomous-driving technologies in the states of Michigan, Nevada, Texas and Washington.
