Carmakers sold 97,600 motor vehicles in Australia last month compared with 94,000 units in March 2011, according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics.

Carmakers sold 97,600 motor vehicles in Australia last month compared with 94,000 units in March 2011, according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics.
Demand for passenger cars rose 2% to 51,200 units in March. Sales of SUVs jumped 19% to 27,400. Sales of other vehicles fell 8% to 19,100 units.
