New-car deliveries in France jumped 10% to 92,100 units in August, thanks in part to an extra selling day, trade group CCFA reports. When the additional day is excluded, sales grew 5%.
CCFA says almost all major carmakers posted monthly gains. The exceptions were Ford (-2%) and Toyota (-14%). Market leader PSA Peugeot Citroen sold 26,700 units, up 15%, in August. Renault Group's volume advanced 4% to 20,200 units.
In Spain, sales climbed for the 24th consecutive month in August, rising 23% to a six-year high of 55,900 units, according to industry group ANFAC. Demand is being aided by a two-year-old government-industry scrappage program.
The plan, which gives buyers €2,000 to turn in an old car for a new one, was extended in May for the seventh time.
