Audi AG now aims to sell 210,000 vehicles in the U.S. this year, 10,000 fewer than its previous target. The company’s new-car deliveries in 2015 rose 11% to a record 202,200 units.
The Volkswagen AG unit says it will continue to outpace the American market overall, where it predicts demand for luxury vehicles will rise 2%-3% this year.
Scott Keogh, who heads Audi’s U.S. operations, tells Automotive News Europe the company lowered this year’s sales target for the sake of controlling inventories, protecting dealer profitability and promoting a “healthy” business model.
