Audi Readies Next-Gen A5 Coupe

Audi AG says its all-new A5 coupe will be larger, more aerodynamic and about 220 lbs lighter than the current model.

The carmaker plans to unveil the new model on Thursday at a special event in Germany. Sales are due to begin early next year.

The new A5 will ride on Volkswagen Group’s MLB Evo platform, which also carries the smaller A4 model. Some of the A4’s styling cues—including the shape of the headlights and taillights—will be incorporated in the A5, which also is expected to get a new five-link suspension to help enhance performance.
