Audi AG has appointed Brad Stertz as director of government affairs in Washington, D.C. The company also named Tom Baloga to a similar function in California.

Both assignments will take effect by the end of February. Audi says the two men will represent Audi’s U.S. interests in emission regulations, autonomous vehicles, electric cars, connectivity, cyber security and safety.

Stertz and Baloga will report to Scott Keogh, who heads Audi of America operations. Stertz is a former journalist with The Detroit News who joined Audi in 2008. Baloga, an engineer, is the former head of engineering, quality and safety for BMW of North America.
