Aston Martin Lagonda Ltd. has released a sketch of the new hypercar it plans to launch in late 2021.

Based on the carmaker’s upcoming Valkyrie supercar, the new model is codenamed 003 and sometimes referred to as the son or brother of the Valkyrie. The Valkyrie is known internally as the 001, while an upcoming track derivative, the Valkyrie AMR PRO, carries the 002 shorthand.

As with the other Valkyrie models, the 003 coupe will get a limited production run (500 units in this case). Aston Martin confirmed the project earlier this year. A convertible variant of the 003 also is possible.

The Valkyrie and its two derivatives are being jointly developed by Aston Martin and Red Bull Racing’s Advanced Technologies unit. All of the vehicles will feature a hybrid-electric powertrain with a mid-engine layout, a lightweight structure, advanced aerodynamic features and an active suspension.

The 003 is expected to be slightly more mainstream—at about half the price—compares with its Valkyrie forebearers, which range from £2 million to £3 million ($2.7 million-$4 million). The new model is said to be more comfortable and even have room for luggage.

Aston Martin plans to race a prototype 003 at the 24 Hours of Le Mans endurance event in 2020. The vehicle also is expected to compete in the World Endurance Championship’s proposed hypercar class.
