Aston Martin Lagonda Ltd. is pondering the idea of squeezing its 6.0-liter, 510-hp V-12 engine into the company's Toyota iQ-based Cygnet city car, Autocar reports.

The British enthusiast magazine says a feasibility study has determined the engine would fit, though the car would require "significant" modifications to handle the added horsepower, torque and weight.

The stock Cygnet, which weighs 2,200 lbs and is slightly more than 10 feet long, is powered by a four-cylinder 1.3-liter engine that makes 97 hp.

If Aston Martin decides to build the super-Cygnet, the car is likely to be a very low production "project" car akin to Nissan Motor Co.'s Juke R mini-crossover, according to Autocar. The all-wheel-drive Juke-R, which can zip from zero to 60 mph in less than 3.7 seconds, is propelled by the same powertrain used in the company's GT-R supercar.
