Asian markets will account for about 60% of Ford Motor Co.'s sales growth over the next 5-10 years, says the head of its Asia Pacific operations.

Dave Schoch tells Reuters that China and India will lead the company's volume increase. He forecasts those markets will expand 39% to 32 million vehicles and 100% to 6 million units, respectively, by 2020.

Schoch confirms that Ford slightly reduced first-quarter production in China to match the country's slow growth rate earlier this year. But he describes the adjustment as "immaterial" in the longer term.

Reuters notes that Ford added 250,000 units of capacity in China in March and expects to expand by another 200,000 units in the country next year.
