Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV held its first shareholders' meeting in Amsterdam on Thursday, ending Fiat's century-long tradition of convening the meeting in Turin.
The symbolic change in venue by CEO Sergio Marchionne is part of his effort to underscore FCA's image as a global rather than predominantly Italian carmaker. FCA is registered in the Netherlands, has its corporate headquarters in London and is listed on the New York Stock Exchange.
Shareholders agreed to give FCA the option of buying back as much as 10% of the company's stock over the next 18 months.
