Amazon.com has launched Amazon Vehicles, a car research website for car buyers.
The portal includes detailed information, photos and reviews of thousands of new and used cars. Visitors can compare the pricing, features and performance specs of a model’s various trim levels in side-by-side charts and access safety and recall information.
The site also allows users to interact with each other and upload photos and videos of their vehicles.
The online retailer already operates Amazon Automotive, an online marketplace for car parts. As with other Amazon sites, the automotive store allows users to buy new parts from the retailer and used parts from other users.
Separately, Amazon is partnering with Hyundai Motor Co. on several new initiatives. One involves arranging extended test drives of select models at consumer-specified locations. In addition, Hyundai’s Genesis luxury brand is giving buyers gift cards to help them purchase Amazon’s voice-activated home speakers. The speakers can be used to remotely access certain vehicle functions.
