Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV tells Automotive News it will expand its lineup in the U.S. with a D-segment SUV early next year and a D-segment sedan several months later.

The two models will joint the Alfa 4C Spider sports car that launches in the U.S. this summer.

Reid Bigland, who heads the Alfa brand in North America, claims the sedan's performance will surpass such competitors as the Audi A4, BMW 3 Series and Mercedes-Benz C-Class. The car will be introduced in Italy on June 24. The SUV will rival the Audi Q5, BMW X3 and Porsche Macan, according to Bigland.

Alfa has not announced names for either model. The two vehicles are among eight all-new Alfas FCA plans to introduce worldwide over the next three years in a bid to revive the marque.
