Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV is recalling 284,200 of its 2011-2014 model Dodge Charger sport sedans because their side airbags and seatbelt pretensioners could be triggered by slamming a door, driving over a pothole or kicking the vehicle.
Last week FCA announced a similar campaign to recalibrate overly sensitive sensors in 843,500 Ram pickup trucks made during the 2013-2015 model years.
FCA notes in documents to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that the company also is investigating whether the same issue affects its Chrysler 300 and Dodge Challenger sedans.
