A new partnership between Advance Auto Parts Inc. and Walmart Inc. will enable the aftermarket retailer to sell parts online through Walmart.com.

Described as an “omni-channel” shopping experience, the online automotive specialty store will give Walmart customers access to Advance’s portfolio of parts, accessories and maintenance items. Shoppers also can purchase tires, lube and batteries sold through Walmart’s existing network of more than 2,500 Auto Care Centers across the U.S.

The program will be launched in phases, starting in the first half of 2019. The companies also are evaluating the potential to collaborate on home delivery, same-day pickup in a Walmart or Advance store, and installation of some parts.

Advance operates nearly 6,400 stores (including Carquest branded outlets) worldwide. The Roanoke, Va.-based retailer was founded in 1932.
