Honda Motor Co.'s 2015 Acura NSX hybrid supercar will be powered by a longitudinally mid-mounted, twin-turbocharged V-6 teamed with three electric motors, the company confirms.
The second-generation NSX replaces the previous model which was produced from 1990 to 2005. That car featured a naturally aspirated, transverse-mid-mounted V-6. The new NSX will be built in Marysville, Ohio, beginning in autumn 2014.
Honda hasn't provided specific details on the new car's Super Hybrid All-Wheel Drive powertrain. But observers speculate that the NSX will use a turbocharged version of the Acura RLX sedan's 3.5-liter V-6, producing at least 550 hp in combination with the electric motors.
The front wheels will get one electric motor each, while the third will be tied to the engine as a motor-generator. The transmission will be at least a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox, reports say.
