Honda Motor Co.’s upscale Acura arm introduced the new CDX compact crossover this week at the Beijing auto show.
Designed primarily for China, the new model will be built at Honda’s Guangzhou facility—a first for Acura. Sales are due to launch there in July with a starting price of about 250,000 yuan ($38,500).
Taking styling cues from Acura’s Precision concept model that debuted earlier this year at the Detroit auto show, the 177-inch CDX will share a platform with Honda's new HR-V crossover. The CDX gets a unique front end and muscular profile.
Power will come from a turbocharged 1.5-liter 4-cylinder engine that makes 182 hp and 177 lb-ft of torque. The engine will be paired with an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Front- and all-wheel-drive variants will be available.
