Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV’s 2018 Jeep Wrangler SUV will feature an upgraded interior with an 8.4-inch touchscreen Uconnect infotainment system, according to multiple media reports.
Spy photographs show four auxiliary control buttons integrated into the center stack to make it easier to install aftermarket equipment such as exterior light bars and winches. Other goodies include a new 7-inch instrument cluster, which will include color-accented vertical metal panels in place of the soft-surface treatment on the current Wrangler.
The interior spy shots indicate a dual-zone climate control system, heated steering wheel and heated seats will be offered. The next-generation Wrangler will keep its center-mount window controls, an indication the vehicle will continue to have removable doors.
The Wrangler’s interior upgrades are expected to be extended to the Wrangler-based pickup truck FCA plans to launch in 2019. Production of the new Wrangler and its four-door Wrangler Unlimited derivative is due to begin in November.
