Volkswagen AG is giving its Golf small car a minor exterior facelift and upgraded interior for 2017 before an all-new model debuts in 2019.

The carmaker will take the wraps off the updated vehicle early next month in Germany and begin sales next spring in Europe and the U.S. Interior highlights include an optional 12.5-inch reconfigurable digital instrument cluster that is said to be similar to the one available in the Audi TT. A new infotainment system will incorporate a 9.5-inch screen and gesture/proximity control technology that was previewed by the recent Golf R Touch concept.

Exterior changes will include updated LED lights, reworked bumpers and new alloy wheel designs. VW’s traffic jam assist system, which allows for semi-autonomous driving in some situations, also is being added.
