Jaime Waydo, who had been a senior engineer at Alphabet Inc.’s Waymo unit, has been hired by Apple Inc. to work on the company’s Titan self-driving car project.

Apple confirmed the hire, which was first reported by The Information, but didn’t provide any information on Waydo’s new job. The tech giant has been tight-lipped about its plans since launching Titan in 2014.

Waydo worked for Waymo for nearly five years, most recently serving as the head of systems engineering. She was involved in the company’s self-driving-vehicle test program and the upgrades that allowed Waymo to remove human backup drivers from vehicles, according to The Information.

Waydo previously worked as a mechanical engineer for NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, according to her LinkedIn profile. She also held senior engineering roles for several medical device companies.
