Cheers to Sonja Maxfield!

Cheers to Sonja Maxfield
I recall returning to GBM over ten years ago
To the Audience Dept. to aid in its workflow
A great team of six ladies on the second floor
Where IT now resides, left out the elevator door
We worked to keep our audience list up to date
Thereby keeping our subscription data great
The occasional potluck luncheon we would host
Or a margarita party as a lark to offer a toast
Sonja Maxfield was an immediate buddy
It certainly helped that she was a wee bit nutty ❤️
We were from the same simpler generation
Long before social media/AI took over the nation
We shared love of all movies Errol Flynn, Cary Grant,
chunky monkey ice cream, Britbox & Robert Plant
Our mothers were native German & Austrian
Although they both embraced most things American
We shared sister names, Lorraine/Loraine
Our fav sibs who’s love/support did not wane
A lifetime ago Sonja had a different role
A National Guard member, taking its physical toll
Her opinions were strong and plentiful
But that’s what made Sonja so delightful
In 2020 when Covid was on overload
Sonja stepped into receptionist mode
One of the few who was in the office day-to-day
Her onsite presence was most appreciated in every way
I’ll miss our Macs’ and Zips’ lunches
But alas, you’re retired now with time in bunches ❤️
See ya soon!
