Rolls-Royce Wraith Comes With Code

Nowadays, with a reasonable number of people spending more time in place than socially about, who doesn’t like a good conspiracy mystery?

You’ve got to spend your time thinking of something other than mentally calculating the number of hours you’ve watched Netflix.

Should you be in the market for a new car and love a mystery, then you might want to quickly place an order for a limited edition—just 50 will be built—Rolls-Royce Wraith Kryptos.

This just isn’t a sumptuous motor car. It is a rolling cipher on wheels.

Torsten Müller-Ötvös, CEO, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, said of the vehicles, “The Wraith Kryptos Collection, on first glance, is a statement of dynamism. On closer examination, a series of messages are hidden behind a unique Rolls-Royce cipher.”

That’s right, the luxury car is wrapped in an actual enigma.

They’ve created a code throughout the vehicle, with the clear copy in a sealed envelope in the safe of Müller-Ötvös.

The cipher starts at the base of the Spirit of Ecstasy hood ornament. In this execution, there is a base with an engraving in green enamel.

There is a cipher embroidered in the headrests in lieu of the traditional “R-R.”

The metal fascia on the instrument panel is screen printed with code.

The headliner, just adding to the motif, which seems to be as much The Matrix as The Imitation Game, has an in-motion data stream.

Code Color

Other features that make this a limited-edition Rolls are the colors used for the exterior. There is a Delphic Grey, which has a solid Anthracite base color with green mica flakes that appear only in the sunlight. (Someone should have told the folks in Goodwood about those Chromaflair paint jobs of cars like the Ford Probe.) There is a hand-painted double coachline, Kryptos Green on top and Dark Grey below, both that include clues that are to be used to decode the characters on the inside.

This is not your ordinary headliner. Not even in a “regular” Rolls-Royce Wraith.

Those who have purchased a vehicle from the Wraith Kryptos Collection will be urged to submit their solution to Rolls-Royce HQ via the company’s members-only Whispers portal.

“I look forward to seeing whether any of our clients will crack the code!” Müller-Ötvös proclaimed with the appropriate reserve.

Why drive it when you can decode it?

Let’s face it: If you’re going to be sitting in your mansion all day, you might as well go outside and spend some time trying to figure out the meaning of the code in your limited-edition car.
