Although one might think of VW in terms of Beetles and Passats, there is another aspect of the company’s business, a naturical one. There is an entire lineup of marine engines, ranging in output from 29 to 350 hp, in families with four, five, six, and eight cylinders.

Not surprisingly, there are high performance diesels, such as the TDI 350-8, which is a 4.2-liter bi-turbo engine.

A variety of yacht makers are using the VW “Blue Water” engines, such as the Oyster 575, Jeanneau 57, and Oceanis 58, all of which use the TDI 140-5 engine.

And there’s the Greenline 33 “hybrid super displacement motor cruiser,” which uses either a 75-hp or 165 VW Marine engine.
