ZF Friedrichshafen AG and China’s Wolong Electric Group Co. are forming a joint venture to produce electric motors and related components for electrified vehicles.

Dubbed Wolong ZF Automotive E‑Motors Co., the new company will be based in Shangyu in China’s Zhejiang province. The partners expect the venture to employ 2,000 people by 2025.

The electric motors initially will be used in ZF driveline systems, starting with a program for an unnamed carmaker for use in future hybrid and electric vehicles in China. ZF and Wolong previously have worked together on an informal basis.
