London-based ad agency WPP has won Volkswagen AG’s VW brand creative business in North America after a seven-month review.

WPP succeeds Interpublic Deutsch, which had serviced the account for nine years, Advertising Age reports. VW awarded its European and South American ad business to Omnicom. Cheil won the account work for China.

The VW brand says it will maintain its annual global marketing budget at €1.5 billion ($1.7 billion). But it aims to improve its “marketing efficiency” 30% by 2020, in large part by centralizing work that once was done by a team of about 40 ad agencies.

The brand says it will coordinate its global marketing activities through four “powerhouse” hubs in Beijing, Berlin, New City and Sao Paulo. The new structure will enable the brand to conduct global campaigns for the first time ever, according to the company.
