Worldwide deliveries of cars and light-duty trucks rose 2% to 8.50 million units in November, led by a 5% increase to 1.31 million units in western Europe, says LMC Automotive.

Global sales of passenger vehicles through the first 11 months of 2017 totaled 86.51 million units compared with 84.19 million in the same period last year (chart).

LMC reports that last month’s sales advanced 1% to 1.40 million units in the U.S. and 1% to 2.93 million cars and trucks in China. Deliveries jumped 15% to 266,200 units in South America. Japan’s car maker shrank 3% to 402,800 units, dragged down by scandals involving non-certified safety inspections at Nissan and Subaru.
