Volkswagen AG is recalling some 1.8 million vehicles in China to replace a fuel pump control module that could fail and cause the engine to stall.
The campaign is part of a global initiative involving more than 2 million vehicles. Last week VW announced it was preparing to fix the problem in 280,900 of its VW CC sport sedans and Passat sedans and wagons sold in the U.S.
The China recall will begin in December. The callback will cover Chinese-made 2007-2014 model Magotans (called Passats in other markets) and 2009-2014 model CC sedans, plus 19,000 imported variants.
