Volkswagen AG plans to open a €173 million plant in Parana, Brazil, in 2015 to build its seventh-generation Golf for the local market.

The factory will be VW's fourth assembly facility in Brazil.

Last year VW produced about 852,000 vehicles, 914,000 engines and 142,000 transmissions in Brazil. The company's current assembly plants there make the Golf and 10 other car, van and pickup truck models.
