Volkswagen AG plans to expand sales of its new T-Roc compact crossover, which debuts this summer in Europe, to the U.S. in 2019.
Volkswagen AG plans to expand sales of its new T-Roc compact crossover, which debuts this summer in Europe, to the U.S. in 2019.
The decision was finalized when VW’s 650 U.S. dealers recently voted in favor of the program, Automotive News reports. But the newspaper says the vehicle may get a different name in the U.S.
VW introduced the T-Roc in concept form in 2014. The production model will be slotted below the Tiguan crossover. Still to be decided is whether the U.S. variant will be built at VW’s plant in Chattanooga, Tenn., or imported from Mexico or Portugal, AN notes.
The T-Roc concept featured a two-piece removable roof panel that is unlikely to make it into production. Analysts also suggest that the concept’s two-door layout may be switched to a four-door design.
