VW Group Sets New Sales Record

Volkswagen AG delivered a record 6.24 million vehicles in 2018, up 15,000 units from the previous year.

Gains in Europe (+4% to 1.75 million units), South America (+13% to 474,000) and the U.S. (+4% to 354,100) offset a decline in China (-2% to 3.11 million). Sales in Germany, the company’s home market, advanced 2% to 541,200 cars and trucks.

VW Group says it expects further gains in retail sales volume this year as it looks for ways to improve profitability.
