VW Group Sales Rise 8%

Volkswagen AG reports group sales of 820,000 vehicles in August compared with 759,200 in the same period last year. Deliveries through the first eight months of 2017 rose 2% to 6.80 million.

VW brand sales in August climbed 9% to 495,200 units worldwide. Demand for Audi brand vehicles rose 5% to 138,900 units. Deliveries by Skoda and SEAT gained 7% to 86,100 units and 17% to 29,700 units, respectively. Porsche sales were flat at 19,100 cars and crossover vehicles.

August sales rose 3% in Europe, thanks to increases in central and eastern Europe and Russia. Volume rose 5% to 56,800 units in the U.S. and surged 58% to 49,600 units in South America. Sales in China grew 9% to 353,500 vehicles.
