VW Doubles Warranty on SUVs in U.S.

Volkswagen AG is doubling its usual bumper-to-bumper factory warranty to 6 years and 72,000 miles for its next-generation Tiguan and all-new Atlas SUV/crossovers. Both 2018 models will reach dealer showrooms in the U.S. later this spring.

VW says the new warranty is longer than any available on other SUVs offered in the American market. Coverage also can be transferred to new owners over the warranty period.

The fullsize, $31,400 Atlas is being produced at VW’s factory in Chattanooga, Tenn. VW will supply the new Tiguan (10.7 inches longer than the original SUV) from its factory in Puebla, Mexico. Both models will provide three rows of seating and a long list of optional electronic driver aids.
