VW Double Warranty Coverage on U.S. Models

Volkswagen AG is extending the factory warranties on vehicles old in the U.S. to six years and 72,000 miles.

The so-called “People First” coverage, which doubles the length of typical policies in the U.S., applies to all 2018 models. The single exception is the all-electric e-Golf hatchback, which retains its previous coverage. VW’s recently launched Tiguan and Atlas crossover vehicles have the extended warranty already.

Unlike most of its competitors, the new warranties transfer to subsequent owners of the vehicle over the original period of coverage.
