Chairman Ferdinand Piech tells ADAC Motorwelt that in 10 years his children will be driving one of Volkswagen AG's "at least 13 brands."

Last year VW completed the acquisition of Porsche as its 12th marque.

Piech didn't disclose to the German magazine what additional make or makes he expects the company to add. But he reiterated that he considers Fiat SpA's Alfa Romeo a "cult brand." His frequent expressions of interest in Alfa have drawn testy retorts from Fiat CEO Sergio Marchionne, who insists the brand is not for sale, and that Piech should "drop it."

CEO Martin Winterkorn said in August that VW wouldn't be buying more marques because it is busy integrating the ones it has.

VW disclosed last month that it expects to decide by year-end whether to develop ultra-low-cost vehicles for emerging markets. The company says it hasn't decided whether to sell such vehicles under its namesake brand or create a new marque.
