Volvo Cars Corp.’s display stand at next week’s Los Angeles auto show won’t have a single car in sight.
Instead, the company will use its space to demonstrate mobility options, let visitors experience connectivity services and tout its partnerships with tech companies.
The idea, says product strategy chief Marten Levenstam, is to focus on how the auto industry is changing its concept of what a “car” really is.
To underscore the point, the center of Volvo’s stage will be occupied by a rotating sculpture that spells out “This Is Not a Car.”
